The above quote applies to our most recent island adventure in Zambales. The road leading to the port to take us to the island via Brgy. Pagolingan in Palauig, Zambales was rough. There were few cemented parts but most of time it was either rocky or very rocky! That was about a good 30 mins. ride. But once you reach the island after the 5-10 mins. boat ride, it's all worth it! For those who do not have their own transportation, guests take the tricycle for PhP 100 per pax.
One of our neighbors brought up the idea of visiting this place called "Magalawa Island". Upon searching on facebook and blogs on the internet, the explorer in me was once again awakened! As a true "lakwatsera", if I'm not out on an adventure, I'm busy searching for a new one!
As I always mention in my previous posts, I love road trips to Zambales
simply because of the trees lined up on the road side and the main roads
are smooth and really nice (except the one in Brgy. Pagolingan).

The ride to the island was so different from most of the boat rides I have taken to reach an island, which are
mostly rough. I appreciate the fact that the rough road was
compensated by a very calm boat ride to Magalawa Island. We were told by the boatman that the water is calm all day!
Aside from the PhP 200/pax for gas, we also paid a parking fee of PhP 250 good for 24 hours; PhP 100/pax round trip boat ride & PhP 100/pax for Entrance Fee.
We're only six in the group, hence, the boat was big enough for us plus the two boatman. In a few minutes we can already see our spot at Ruiz Beach Resort. That's the tree of flowers called "fire tree" right there on the far right of the pic below.

We left our place in Bataan at 4AM, we were at the island at around 7AM. Since we arrived there early, we had plenty of huts to choose from. Naturally, we chose our spot under the Fire tree:-) We had tosilog (tocino, sinangag and itlog) for our breakfast by the beach:-)

After breakfast and picture-taking, we went swimming to beat the heat.

We had plenty of time to explore the island. So we did!

We only reached up to this part of the island because the water's current around this part is pretty dangerous plus the mangroves. Since were not really familiar with the place, we didn't dare try to go around the mangrove area.

After our mini-photo shoot while exploring the island, we had lunch at our rented hut. Swim some more and took tons of photos of the place. At 3PM we were on our boat ride back to the port, then we were rolling home. We got back at home at 6PM.
