Side Trip: La Presa Tuba, Benguet (February 1, 2015)

Hello everyone, it's been a while!
Finally after a year of hiatus from the blogosphere, lakwatsera is back!

As the title of this blogpost suggests, this was a side trip to Sitio La Presa, Mount Cabuyao, Sto. Tomas in Tuba Benguet after our two days one night stay in Baguio City.  La Presa  was made famous by a Kapamilya teleserye called "Forevermore".

It's always refreshing to discover new places with a group of people who equally loves adventure! It's a joy to see a place for the first time and experience it with my forever travel buddy-my husband and partner in life with our friends from the neighborhood.

"Traveling leaves you speechless and then turns you into a storyteller..."

La Presa, Tuba Benguet

On Sunday, February 1, 2015, after strawberry picking at La Trinidad Benguet, we were stuck in the City of Pines' traffic as the opening parade for Panagbenga 2015 was on-going.  It was a blessing in disguise though cause it was our first time to see such parade up close as we only see it on TV.

After a few minutes, we were already heading towards Marcos Highway.  We asked for directions along the way.  Fortunately, the students we asked gave us the right direction. We were looking for the sign that says Welcome to Green Valley/Sto. Tomas Road or "LA PRESA" this way.

Since the place is becoming popular because of Forevermore, they now collect Environmental Fee of Php 25.00 per person. However, children and driver are free of charge.
This is where  we stopped to pay the Environmental Fee of PhP 25.00
Fog greeted us on our way up to La Presa
The view was beyond amazing! It's really worth the hike!

I feel grateful for the opportunity to see the beauty of this place with my husband and I feel truly blessed for the safe travel considering that its a dangerous, stiff ride up.

Welcome to La Presa!
Yes, there's a queue to have your pictures taken! No fees here though!

Big thanks to Ivan---> our official photographer! He even thought we are about to back out because of the slopes and stiff hikes we have to take just to get to La Presa.  But i told him, "ang tunay na lakwatsera, hindi atrasera".  Back-out is not in lakwatsera's vocabulary. Hahaha!

If you ever decide to visit La Presa, here are some lakwatsera tips:

1.  Wear appropriate clothes (jacket, bonnet, pants) and shoes (rubber shoes or any comfortable footwear!) as La Presa's weather rapidly changes.  It was very cold and windy while we were there.  The temperature that time was at 9 degrees.

2.  Be ready to hike! A lot of walking from the time you alight from your vehicle up to Sitio La Presa.
3.  Bring your own food/snacks and water although there's a lot of stalls on the way up that sells banana cue, corn, burgers, fruits etc.  We ate banana cue while hiking/walking ;-)

4.  Be a doll and volunteer to take group pictures of your fellow travelers!  That's what we did!

5.  Lastly, enjoy the scenery and take tons of pictures!

Safe and happy travels to y'all!!!
